Artist's Description

The Hoofdtoren, in the old harbour of Hoorn in the Netherlands. Hoofdtoren can be translated as Head Tower in English.

This massive defensive gate of Hoorn was build in 1532, near the wooden pier called the ‘Houten Hoofd’ or the ‘Wooden Head’, dating back to 1464. It is a late-Gothic structure built with natural Gobertange white-yellow limestone and bricks.

Currently the building houses a restaurant.

I have edited this photo for a vintage look.

About Maria Meester

Maria Meester

I'm a self-taught abstract painter living in the Netherlands, and I love expressing myself freely through organic shapes and vibrant colors inspired by the beauty of nature. In addition to abstract art, I occasionally enjoy painting flowers and landscapes using oil paints. I'm also passionate about photography, capturing the beauty of nature, abandoned houses, barns, and landscapes in the Netherlands and Europe. If you would like to purchase an original piece, feel free to visit my Etsy shop at https://mariameesterart.etsy.com.
