Description
The Hoofdtoren, in the old harbour of Hoorn in the Netherlands. Hoofdtoren can be translated as Head Tower in English.
This massive defensive gate of Hoorn was build in 1532, near the wooden pier called the ‘Houten Hoofd’ or the ‘Wooden Head’, dating back to 1464. It is a late-Gothic structure built with natural Gobertange white-yellow limestone and bricks.
Currently the building houses a restaurant.
I have edited this photo for a vintage look.
